got some vegan taiwan snacks
all are some puffy or crunchy bites
vegan 馬仔 n puff pastry are expired this month
while others are of latter best before
...
of all
vegan 馬仔 is my favourite
n juz love that soft sticky texture
second the puff pastry
n which is flaky gd
however
vegan 蜜麻花 too rock hard
the handmade twist juz nothing special
once opened
its juz smells sweet n gd
n juz same as the 馬仔 in childhood memories
btw
its soft n fragile
n prone to hurting the shape
juz as gd as traditional 馬仔
n as gd as last experience of it
soft n sticky flour puffs
sweetness juz perfect
w/ juz gd amount of maltose coating on

lucky got this taiwan producer who cares for our tastebuds n animals.. lol..
opened up
got 8 individual packs on a plastic tray
n that's neat n tidy, keeping the pastries intact
the first piece
golden puff as others puff pastry sticks
wif sugar glaze on top
smelling sweet n buttery
bit into
puffs are flaky crumbly
wif raisins sandwiched in the middle
sweetness juz gd enough
feel like only the top layer got sugar sweetened
as to see the whole pastry stick
same golden on top layer wif sugar glazed
bite up the top layer
cranberry n raisin sandwiched between
n this one got generous amounts of berries
then the bottom layer
it's more plain as w/o sugar glaze
opened up
looks shiny sticky w/ honey n maltose coating
n sprinkle with sesame seeds
bite into
quite hard
though still sticky of the coating
juz that the cracker is dense hard
n the sugary coating texture like hard candy
also
the sesame flavour is obvious
n they are scattered around n hard to skip
sweetness is ok to me
can see the sticky stringy maltose thread pulling
n that's sth I like
but the rock hard texture is no easy to munch on
finally
only hv one piece
hv the handmade twist cracker 手工麻花
pick out one intact piece
its same as the designed pic
looks n smells of oily fried dough
juz the smell of cny fried food
bite into its crunchy, texture like thicker hard crackers
(yet less hard than 蜜麻花)
sweetness is ok
some got white sugar powder glaze
juz taste of sweet biscuit sticks
yet
a bit oily
in a cute curly shape
likely the twist loosen when fried?
...
overall
these twist crackers resemble sweet biscuit sticks or finger biscuits
same got a plain sweetness n ok light crunch
but juz wif a thicker rod
n in a twisted shape
plus.. juz more oily than finger biscuits
still
they are easy to munch on
quite full n too late
